Key changes effective July 1, 2026
- The deadline to request review of an LTB order is reduced from 30 days to 15 days.
- For certain AGI orders, directed service is reduced from 14 days to 7 days and the certificate is due no later than 5 days after service.
- The LTB Payment Agreement Form is mandatory for repayment plans under section 206 of the Residential Tenancies Act.
- New rules address tenant-installed portable or window air conditioners and possible seasonal rent increases where electricity is included.
- Maximum RTA offence fines rise to $100,000 for an individual and $500,000 for a corporation.
The shorter review period requires immediate file assessment
A party considering review should obtain the order, calculate the deadline and assess the permitted review grounds promptly. A request for review is not a general rehearing or an automatic appeal.
