What Alberta published on August 25

Alberta's AAIP processing page now says up to 10,000 additional federal immigration spaces are available across provincial nominee programs for practice-ready physicians and Francophones. Alberta nominations that meet the federal initiative's conditions will not be charged against the province's regular base allocation.

The province has begun publishing separate totals. As of the August 25 update, Alberta reported 50 physician nominations and 12 Francophone nominations through these additional spaces. These are nominations, not invitations issued in a new draw.

Who can use the additional spaces

  • Physicians must be in NOC 31100, 31101 or 31102 and be practice-ready under AAIP's Dedicated Health Care Pathway requirements.
  • Francophone candidates may work in any AAIP-eligible NOC and must have French at CLB/NCLC 5 or higher in all four language abilities.
  • Candidates must still qualify for an existing AAIP stream or pathway and meet all provincial and federal requirements.

No new AAIP stream was created

Alberta expressly says the initiative does not create a new stream or pathway. A physician or Francophone candidate cannot apply only because an additional federal space exists; the person must fit an existing AAIP route and any current selection priorities.

The province may select through Express Entry or non-Express Entry pathways. A provincial nomination also remains separate from the final federal permanent-residence decision, including admissibility checks by IRCC.

Two earlier Alberta draws were also posted

The same August 25 page update lists two draw results that were not yet in Ghasedak's table: 743 invitations under the Alberta Opportunity Stream on August 14 at a minimum Worker EOI score of 58, and 24 invitations under the non-Express Entry Dedicated Health Care Pathway on August 19 at a minimum score of 60.

Both results have now been added to the bilingual Draws page. The published Worker EOI score is not a federal Express Entry CRS score, and meeting the score alone does not establish pathway eligibility.
