More than one program
Francophone immigration outside Québec is supported through several separate mechanisms. These can include Express Entry category-based rounds, additional CRS points for French, provincial streams, community pilots and work-permit pathways.
Each option has its own requirements. Applicants should first determine whether they qualify for the underlying federal, provincial, community or temporary-work route.

Pathways to examine
Express Entry — French category
Eligible Express Entry candidates who meet IRCC’s French-language threshold may be considered in French-language category rounds.
Additional CRS points
Qualifying French test results can add CRS points, with the amount affected by English results and other factors.
Francophone Community Immigration Pilot
A community and designated-employer route for eligible candidates with a qualifying job offer and community recommendation.
Provincial Francophone streams
Some PNPs, including Ontario, operate or prioritize streams for French-speaking candidates.
Francophone Mobility work permit
An LMIA-exempt work-permit option outside Québec may help eligible French-speaking workers gain Canadian experience.

Meet the invitation, nomination or community-recommendation requirements before the final application.

Important points
- French category selection is part of Express Entry, so the candidate must first qualify for an Express Entry-managed program.
- French-language scores and required benchmarks differ among pathways.
- Francophone Mobility is a temporary work-permit route, not permanent residence by itself.
- Québec has its own immigration selection system and is not covered by federal outside-Québec Francophone initiatives.
