Current times for the applications we track
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) last updated its processing times on October 14, 2026. This is the first table in our processing times record. From now on we will publish an update whenever one of these figures changes.
| Application | Processing time |
|---|---|
| Visitor visa, applying from Iran | 90 days |
| Study permit, applying from Iran | 16 weeks |
| Work permit, applying from Iran | 60 weeks |
| Parent and grandparent super visa, applying from Iran | 265 days |
| First PR card for new permanent residents | 33 days |
| PR card renewal or replacement | 38 days |
How to read these numbers
IRCC's figure is based on how long it took to process 80% of applications in the recent past. It is not a promise for any one file. Your own file can take longer, for example if IRCC asks for more documents or an interview.
The times for visitor visas, study permits, work permits and super visas are for applications submitted from outside Canada, and they depend on the country you apply from. The figures above are for Iran. If you apply from another country, IRCC's tool shows a separate figure for that country.
What this table does not cover
We also follow Express Entry, spousal sponsorship, citizenship grants and permanent residence for protected persons. These figures were not available in a form we could read and confirm on this check, so they are not in the table. Use IRCC's online tool for the current figure in your category, and we will add them once we can confirm them.
