Last updated: 25 July 2024

The Tourism and Hospitality Stream is designed for temporary foreign workers already employed full-time in Alberta’s tourism and hospitality sector. To qualify, you need a full-time job offer from an eligible employer in Alberta and a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). Additionally, you must meet certain requirements related to your occupation, language skills, education, job offer, and work experience in Alberta.

You can apply independently through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program portal.

Approved Employer Requirements

To be eligible for the Tourism and Hospitality Stream, your current employment and job offer in Alberta must be with a single, approved employer in the tourism and hospitality sector. Below are the requirements for these approved employers:

Eligible Industries and Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) – Alberta Coverage Requirements

  1. Eligible Industries:
    • Your employer’s main business activities must fall under an eligible industry as defined by the WCB – Alberta industry code or must be exempt activities.
  2. WCB Coverage:

    • You need to provide proof of your employer’s valid WCB coverage or exemption through a WCB clearance letter when you submit your application.

These requirements ensure that your employment and job offer align with Alberta’s standards for the tourism and hospitality sector.
