Express Entry – Proof of Funds Updated (July 07, 2025):

Date of Update: July 7, 2025 — Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) officially increased the minimum settlement funds required for candidates applying under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
Important Action Required: Candidates must update their Express Entry profiles by July 28, 2025 to remain eligible. Updating the profile with the new proof of funds does not affect the original submission date or ranking in the pool.

Who Is Affected?

IRCC’s update affects only applicants under FSWP and FSTP, unless they hold a valid job offer or are applying under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), both of which are exempt from showing funds.
What Counts as Proof of Funds?

Acceptable documentation includes recent official letters from financial institutions with letterhead, your name, contact details, current and average balances over the past 6 months, and account opening dates. Funds must be liquid, unencumbered, and legally accessible. Real estate equity or borrowed money does not qualify

July 11, 2025 – The Ontario government has confirmed that it reached its full 2024 allocation of 21,500 nominations under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). This program operates in partnership with the federal government to address Ontario’s economic and labour market needs.

Québec – Sponsorship Cap Reached for Certain Family Members

July 9, 2025 – The Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI) has officially announced that it has reached the cap for undertaking applications to sponsor the following family members under Québec’s Family Reunification program:

Conjugal partner

Dependent child aged 18 or over
🛑 No new applications for these categories will be accepted until June 25, 2026.
🔹 Key Information for Sponsors

The cap applies to applications submitted between June 26, 2024 and June 25, 2026.

Applications received after the cap was reached will be returned without processing, and no fees will be deposited.

Undertaking applications for other eligible family members (such as minor children, parents, or grandparents if permitted) are still being accepted.
