The Alberta Advantage Immigrant Program (AAIP) Farm Stream is designed to attract farm owners/operators who plan to live in Alberta and manage their farming businesses.

The Alberta Advantage Immigrant Program (AAIP) Farm Stream is designed to attract farm owners/operators who plan to live in Alberta and manage their farming businesses. This stream is part of the Canada Provincial Nominee Immigration Program (PNP) and aims to support Alberta’s agricultural sector.
Minimum Requirements
- To be eligible for the Alberta Farm Stream, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Farm Management Skills:
- Provide financial documentation of an existing farm business.
- Submit proof of education, training, and work experience.
- Present a comprehensive business plan for the proposed Alberta farming enterprise.
- Show evidence that a Canadian financial institution is willing to finance the farming business operations.
Financial Resources:

- Invest a minimum of CAD $500,000 of equity in a primary production farming business in Alberta.
- Demonstrate a minimum net worth of CAD $500,000 or provide confirmation of access to similar funds from other sources.
Note: A larger investment amount may be required to demonstrate sufficient financial capability.

Primary Production Investment:

- Document your investment plans in the proposed business plan.
- Priority is given to applications that align with Alberta’s agri-food targets and show the greatest opportunity for growth.
Interview:
- Attend an in-person interview with a Government of Alberta representative to determine eligibility under the AAIP.
Who is Not Eligible to Apply

You are not eligible for the AAIP Farm Stream if you are:
- A refugee claimant or involved in a federal appeal or removal process.
- A live-in caregiver currently residing in Canada.
- A temporary foreign worker working and residing in a province other than Alberta.
- An international student studying in Canada, including those doing co-op work placements or internships as part of their study program.
