The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has today released 500 invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residency (PR) in the inaugural Express Entry draw targeting STEM occupations. The announced minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score stands at 486, marking a 10 point increase compared to the first Healthcare occupations targeted draw held on June 28.

Key details of the STEM occupations targeted Express Entry draw are as follows:

• Number of ITAs issued: 500
• Rank required to be invited to apply: 500th or above
• Date and time of the draw: July 05, 2023, at 13:38:22 UTC
• CRS score of the lowest-ranked candidate invited: 486
• Tie-breaking rule: November 23, 2022, at 00:01:29 UTC

Last week, the Immigration Minister indicated that 1,500 more ITAs would be released this week. With just 500 ITAs sent out for STEM occupations today, we anticipate further draws to take place either today or within the week. These are expected to issue 1,000 more ITAs targeted at other listed Express Entry occupations or an additional 1,500 ITAs exclusively for Express Entry profiles within 35 healthcare occupations.

The list of the 24 STEM occupations with their respective NOC codes includes architects, civil engineers, computer systems developers and programmers, data scientists, electrical and electronics engineers, industrial and manufacturing engineers, software developers and programmers, web designers, and more.
